Register for waiting list
Leiden University has set up a Service Centre International Staff (SCIS) for all our foreign incoming staff. The SCIS will guide you through various procedures that are required to work and reside legally in the Netherlands. SCIS Housing offers support to staff in their search for accommodation in Leiden and the surrounding area.
To manage your expectations we inform you that the housing market in the Netherlands, and also in Leiden, is very tight. This means that we cannot guarantee accommodation and it can easily take up to 6 - 12 months before you will receive an offer. We advise you to register for the waiting list as early as possible. The sooner you register the greater the chance that we can offer you accommodation.
The university has a quota of its own housing and also offers housing in the private segment. Current tenants through the quota can only register for the private segment. Internal relocation within the university owned accommodation is not facilitated.
If accommodation is available, SCIS housing offers this via email with a link to the website. Specifications (e.g. rental price, amout of rooms, square meters, pics) are shown on the website. In total you can refuse an offer three times. After the third refusal, a time out of three months will follow before a new accommodation is offered.
The costs for registration are €35,00.
With your registration via this website a registration number is immediately created. This number will be confirmed by mail after completion of the registration. After you have created a username and password you can change your data and submit your preferences at My SCIS Housing.
